Fights at Klein Forest High School have reached a level that triggered a press conference just last week. The high school had five fights last Friday alone. The cause of fights is attributed primarily to gang activity between black and Hispanic gangs at this high school.
Social media is being used to advertise and encourage fights as seen with a Twitter feed by Manvel High School students.
KHOU has developed a map that tracks the number of fights per 1000 students in ISDs across Houston. Spring ISD, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, and Klein ISD have some of the highest number of fights per 1000 students.
Klein ISD has had a spike in school fights in 2021-2022 increasing by 50% from a high of 9.2 fights per 1000 students to 14.4 fights per 1000 students.
